How To Create A Garden That’s Great For The Environment

July 17, 2022 in Eco friendly, Home & Garden - Micaela

It’s easy to look at your garden and think that it is doing wonders for the environment. After all, it’s a lovely outdoor space – possibly with some greenery thrown in – so, how couldn’t it be good for our planet? Believe it or not, but many home gardens are nowhere near as eco-friendly as they could be. So, here are some tips to help you create a garden that’s great for the environment:

Make it green

Yes, make your garden as green as possible by planting all sorts of things to bring it to life. Literally, you are bringing your garden to life and improving the environment by putting down things that can take in carbon dioxide and convert it to oxygen. Bring in as many plants as you can, and consider using MOOWY Grass seed to encourage new grass to grow. If our world was a greener place, we wouldn’t have half as many environmental issues as we currently do.

Tend to your trees

Do you have any trees in your garden? If so, you need to tend to them to keep them in the best possible condition. A lot of people have old trees that have started to become more of a hindrance than a help. They’re either growing too large and stopping other things from growing, or they’re infected and killing other plant life nearby. Work with tree surgeons to tend to your trees and you will keep your garden in better condition to aid the environment.

Cut down on chemicals

When you look after your lawn and plants, you might have a tendency to use chemical products in your garden. This can be a particular pesticide or fertiliser, or anything else. The problem with these chemical products is that they do more harm than good. Yes, they can stop weeds from growing and might help your lawn stay green, but at what cost? The chemicals in many gardening products can kill nearby life – such as insects or possibly small birds/rodents that are essential to the ecosystem. As such, when gardening, use products that are free from chemicals.

Reduce your water usage

Wasting water is a big environmental problem that doesn’t get spoken about anywhere near as much as it should. Unfortunately, in the home, a lot of water gets wasted in the garden. This is typically from people using too much water to water their plants when a little bit would do. One thing to never do is use a sprinkler system in your garden as it is so inefficient and wastes loads of water. Instead, the best method is to use a little watering can and water the roots of your plants directly. There’s no point wasting water on the leaves as it doesn’t do anything! Also, use the weather to your advantage – if it rains, you don’t have to do any watering.

See, your garden might not be as environmentally friendly as you first thought! If you want to be more eco-conscious about your outdoor living space, follow the tips above to create a garden area that is excellent for our environment.
