5 Must-Have WordPress Plugins for Bloggers

June 26, 2023 in Tech - Micaela

If, like me, you run your blogs on WordPress then there are a huge number of amazing plugins available to you which add extra functionality to your blog. I rely on a number of these plugins for my day to day activities on my blog, from optimising for search engines to making my layout look great.

Today I am going to share my favourite 5 plugins which I think are a must have for anyone wanting to run a successful, functional WordPress blog.

All In One SEO Pack

Although a lot of bloggers use Yoast I prefer the All in One SEO Pack to optimise my WordPress site for search engines. It’s easy and works out of the box for beginners, and has advanced features and an API for developers. It has great features like automatically notifying search engines like Google and Bing about changes to your site, automatically optimising your titles for search engines and being great for beginners because you don’t even have to look at the options, just install.

Fontsy

Fontsy (Fontsy.com) is the all in one web font management plugin for WordPress, allowing you to import your own web fonts, or choose from our free web font library. This WordPress font plugin allows you to create a beautiful and unique blog that stands out from the crowd! Using it is easy: browse the extensive library of web fonts or upload your own, choose which font appears and where; you are in complete control and finally apply your font and impress your visitors! If you’d prefer to download and use your own fonts on your website then Font Bundles free fonts are a great place to start. Make your own graphics for your blog and social media to really stand out from the crowd.

Contact Form 7

Contact Form 7 is my go-to contact form for my WordPress websites. It allows the management of multiple contact forms, plus you can customise the form and the mail content flexibly with simple markup. The form supports Ajax-powered submitting, CAPTCHA, Akismet spam filtering and so on. I have always found this plugin to be super easy and fast to set up without any issues.

WordPress Popular Posts

Having a popular posts plugin on your WordPress blog makes it easy for visitors to find your most popular posts quickly. I love this WordPress popular posts plugin because it has some great features such as: You can have several widgets of WordPress Popular Posts on your blog, each with its own settings; you can list those posts of your blog that have been the most popular ones within a specific time range (eg. last 24 hours, last 7 days, last 30 days, etc) and finally display a thumbnail of your posts for an eye-catching sidebar or footer showcase.

Google Analyticator

I have been using the Google Analyticator plugin since starting my very first WordPress blog. It’s one of the most popular WordPress plugins for Google Analytics with over 3.5+ million downloads. I have loved how it makes it super easy to view Google Analytics within my WordPress dashboard and eliminates the need to edit your template code to begin logging. My favourite feature is the admin dashboard widget that displays a graph of the last 30 days of visitors, a summary of site usage, the top pages, the top referrers, and the top searches.
