Stressed about Christmas? Try these self-care tips

It might be true that the most wonderful time of the year is coming, but with the amount of planning, lists, shopping, organising and everything else you have to do, it’s no wonder that so many of us feel frazzled before December even hits. Sure you can get friends and family to help, but if you want something doing right – you might as well do it yourself…!

So, in terms of doing things yourself, why not take a moment to step back, and indulge in a little self-love and pampering. The festive season is mentally draining and even though you’re worrying about everyone else, there’s nothing wrong with putting yourself first from time to time.

Even if indulging yourself at a spa for a weekend might be a little out of reach this time of year – even though the UK is famous for its spa breaks – there are some super simple ways you can administer a little self-care and TLC.

Read on for a little inspiration.

Breakfast in bed

There’s something almost royal about breakfast in bed. Only the very finest and very famous seem regularly indulge. So, why not try it yourself? And try something a little more exciting then a slice of toast between the sheets! Try some smashed avocado on sourdough with chili flakes or indulge in a continental breakfast. Pour yourself some fresh orange juice in a champagne flute and you’ll feel like the queen on her birthday.

You might have a million and one jobs to do at home, so why not treat yourself while you’re wrapping those presents and folding the clothes away? Download and listen to a new audiobook – or try one of your old childhood favourites and fall in love with it all over again. The chores can wait you know…why not sit down for ten minutes and listen to a couple of chapters first?

Get flowers

You know what they say – if you don’t treat yourself, who will? So, why wait for someone to buy you flowers when you can fill your home with beautiful blooms and enjoy them whenever you wish. At least you can pick your favourites!

Turn your bedroom into a sanctuary

You spend so much time, charging after everyone else, why not do a little work in your own bedroom for a change? We all know how good fresh sheets feel, so strip your bed and freshen things up, better yet – treat yourself to some new pillows and bedding! Add a few throw pillows, blankets, bedside lamps or even string up some fairy lights. At least you’ll have somewhere to curl up and relax at the end of a busy day.

The world is so full of doom and gloom, it’s easy to feel depressed and hopeless, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any uplifting stories out there too! Search online and read an uplifting blog or story that will make you smile and pass it on!
