In the last couple of weeks, I have really been getting into tea as an alternative to unhealthy drinks and I have been trying out all sorts of different teas and teaware. Today I want to tell you a little bit about the Connoisseur Glass Tea Brewer and Decanter which has totally changed the way that I brew my tea!
The Connoisseur Tea Brewer is an elegant bit of kit which allows you to brew and strain the perfect loose leaf tea with no mess. It has two sections a brewing pot (200ml) where the leaves go and the decanter (450ml) into which the strained tea liquor ends up after passing through a fine mesh filter. This system preventing stewing (leaving leaves in water for too long resulting in a bitter flavour) and making it quick and easy to make a perfect cuppa.
The Connoisseur Tea Brewer is very handy when it comes to brewing Gong Fu style. In Gong Fu brewing we use more tea leaves and brew for very short times to get the best flavour from the tea without the bitterness which comes from longer steeping times.
There are only a few quick and easy steps to using this teaware:
- Add your measure of loose tea into brewing pot
- Fill brewer with hot water (make sure you get the correct temperature for the perfect taste)
- Close lid
- If you want to rinse the leaves then push the button, throw away the rinse and repeat step 2
- Allow the tea leaves to infuse (each type of tea has a different steeping time so be sure to time your brewing)
- When brewed to your taste, push button to release the tea into the decanter
- Pour tea and enjoy!
It is also great for going back for subsequent infusions as you can simply open the brewing chamber, add your water to your used leaves and strain after your allocated infusion time.
Cleaning is super quick and easy, simply twist the brewing pot to release it from the decanter, dispose of the leaves and rinse both the brewer and decanter.

What a beautiful set. I drink fennel tea throughout the day and then in the evening switch to jasmine so this would be perfect!!
