Easier Monthlies with Thinx, Period.

It took me a while to catch on to the new trend for period pants, having been a tampon girl for the majority of my menstruating life and being somewhat dubious of the adverts claiming problem-free periods with no worries or spills. However, I decided a while back that I wanted to try and be a bit more eco-friendly when it came to my time of the month.

I first decided to try a menstrual cup having seen lots of positive reviews and comments online. After doing some research I decided upon a mooncup and excitedly ordered it from Amazon to give it a go. Sadly, despite my research and the instructions which came with it I simply have not been able to get it working for me. Without being too graphic I just simply couldn’t get it in the right place.

My next experiment was reusable sanitary towels; despite it having been a long time since I had used a towel I bought a pack of fabric bamboo charcoal reusable sanitary towels to test out and see if they would be the answer to my eco-friendly period problem. Alas, when I tried the reusable sanitary towel I discovered that they were quite bulky and ultimately made me feel like I was wearing a nappy.

My last ditch attempt at an eco-friendly sanitary solution for my periods was to invest in some Thinx panties – so-called period-proof underwear that offers protection either on their own or as back up for other products like the cup or tampons. I had thought about getting some period pants for a long time but wasn’t really convinced about the hype, especially when considering the cost.

However, when a deal came up on the Thinx website I decided to give them a go and I purchased 3 pairs of their bestselling classic hiphugger pants at £26.30 each, which offer full coverage and protection against leaks, in their limited edition Forest Green colour (they also come in black and white).

The Hiphuggers are one of the range of pants Thinx sell, each one offering a different level – the Hiphuggers hold up to 2 tampons’ worth making them a decent all-rounder. You can also get boyshorts, thongs, leotards, high waist and sport styles.

So, how do they work? Thinx panties are made from a moisture-wicking cotton with a superabsorbent anti-microbial lining with a leak-resistant barrier. You wear them just like regular panties (day and night) with the inbuilt absorbent pad keeping you dry.

They are washable, reusable, and simple to care for simply rinse, then wash them separately, or with the rest of your laundry (just steer clear of bleach and fabric softener) and air dry.

I have found the Thinx panties to be a great reusable option. They are comfortable (not bulky like the reusable sanitary towels), stylish and fun! I love the Forest Green colour. I have not experienced any problems with washing or drying them.

I love not having to worry about toxic shock syndrome and other tampon related issues. I do think they are a bit pricey, however, if I am not going to have to buy any other sanitary product for the foreseeable future they will probably be cheaper in the long run!

I am happy to award the Thinx reusable period pants 5 out of 5 stars and will continue to use them for fuss-free periods from now on.
