10 Socially Distant Date Ideas

March 29, 2022 in Dating - Micaela

If, like me, you started a new relationship after the Corona virus hit then your last few months of dating might have been a little different to previous relationships.

Instead of going out to restaurants and seeing movies you’ve probably ended up doing more low-key things and finding ways to have fun together whilst avoiding the risks of crowds.

My relationship started during lockdown so we didn’t actually meet in person for almost 3 months! During these 2 months we messaged a lot and spent many evenings watching movies together via Netflix and Whatsapp!

My boyfriend and I met on a dating app; if you’re single and looking for something new why not try Googling to find dating sites in your area, for example, “Bedfordshire dating site” brings up local options like datebedfordshiresingles.co.uk.

Today I am going to give you some great date ideas which will keep you away from crowds and the associated risk of Corona virus. I hope you give them a go!

Stargazing

I love stargazing, it’s something I have inherited from my Dad. Make sure you check out the weather and book a date in on a night with clear skies. If you live in a town or city it’s best to head out to the countryside to avoid light pollution and get the best view of the moon, stars, planets and space stations. I love my StaWalk 2 app which helps me locate constellations.

Harvest Together

Next weekend my boyfriend and I are planning to visit the stunning orchards at the local Castle Farm for some apple picking! Autumn is the perfect time to try your hand at harvesting apples, berries, flowers or pumpkins. Being outside these activities all are great easy to practice social distancing while getting outside into the fresh air.

Farmers’ Market Strolling

Another great foodie date option is to browse the stalls at your local farmers’ market! Take the time to enjoy checking out the produce with your date and have the opportunity to discuss food likes and dislikes. You can even grab some ingredients for a romantic meal later in the day.

Bike Trails

Around where I live you can guarantee that in good weather you will see tonnes of cyclists out on the roads, especially at the weekend. Why not find local trails from easy and paved to rugged and challenging for some bonding opportunities? Exercise has many great benefits including making you feel great thanks to the endorphins produced when you get moving!

Make S’mores on a Bonfire

I love everything about autumn and when I feel the first chill in the air at the end of September I look forward to simple pleasures like cooking s’ mores! Who can resist ooey-gooey marshmallows? Snuggle up under a blanket with your date and design your own flavour combinations! Try Nutella, peanut butter, cookies or different candy bars instead of the traditional graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow.

Create a Signature Cocktail

If you usually love a night out at a bar but don’t want to risk it right now, why not try designing your own cocktails at home? Use whatever you have on hand or pick up some different options to mix up your classic bar order or try something new by experiment with flavours and temperatures. Enjoy!

Play a Board Game

Why not have some friendly competition with your date and play a board game? Go traditional with whatever you have available in the closet, or try a printable one. I recently purchased the some grab and go versions of Monopoly and Cluedo which I haven’t played in years! Board games are great for bonding as long as you are not a bad loser!

Cook Together

My boyfriend is going to be doing Veganuary in next year and we have been experimenting with vegan recipes to help inspire him on our last couple of staying at-home dates. Break out one of those dusty recipe books or find a meal online that tickles your taste buds and cook up a storm together. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy – just have fun!

Get Crafty

I am a huge craft enthusiast, my main craft is crochet and my house is full to bursting with yarn, hooks and pattern books. I get great satisfaction from making things for my friends and family. Crafting possibilities for dates are endless: knitting, crocheting, embroidery, tie-dye, and making masks are all therapeutic and fun crafts that you could do with a partner.

Romantic scavenger hunt

If you’ve had enough of dates at home, why not get out in your local area with a scavenger hunt? Plant clues for your partner that lead to different locations important to your relationship or any significant places where you live. Sometimes it’s nice to rediscover your home and this can be particularly special with a partner.
